Leanne and Kevin – the Royalton Riviera Cancun Wedding

I love to photograph destination weddings and the Royalton Riviera in Mexico was one heck of a location to photograph a wedding! What makes this my most favourite wedding EVER is because the Bride is my cousin Leanne who is and always has been like a sister to me. She’s absolutely beautiful inside and out and it was an absolute delight to photograph her amazing wedding to the very lovely, kind and warm hearted Kev.

We arrived in the stunning Royalton Riviera Cancun resort and the sun was shining. In fact it didn’t stop shining for the whole 10 days. The ride and Groom had an upgraded suite which was filled with rose petals and they had a rooftop terrace with a hot tub. Needless to say they were very happy… but not as happy as their children with a room next door with a hot tub too! Watching the sunrise in a hot tub on the rooftop is an unforgettable experience!

The wedding day started early with some nibbles and pampering for the girls whilst the boys took a quick pre wedding dip in the pool to cool down. Leanne had opted for a two piece instead of a traditional wedding dress which looked absolutely stunning teamed with subtle makeup by the very lovely Sophie Asher and sunkissed skin.

The ceremony was at 4pm and the Chapel that leanne and Kev were married under overlooking the sea is just the most amazing structure ever! The colours of the sea and the sky and the interesting angles and shadows were a wedding photographers dream. It was a really relaxed intimate ceremony followed by a few cocktails in the bar before heading down to the beach for some group pictures and a few more drinks at the beach bar. The sun started to get really beautiful and low at around 5.30pm and I managed to get some stunning light in the spot where Kevin had proposed to Leanne a year earlier on a swing by the beach bar. After some beautiful bride and groom beach wedding photographs we headed to the restaurant for the wedding breakfast which was epic! Just as I thought I could eat no more food the red velvet wedding cake got served up followed by some flambe desserts! after a couple of quick speeches and a few drinks in the bar we all hit our (ridiculously comfy) pillows for another 7 days of sun, sea, sand, Mojotos, pinicoladas, minibeers, teppanyaki, steaks, pizzas, Royalton burgers, oreo cakes and lots of laughter and fun times!
