The Out Barn Summer Wedding Photography

Claire & Adam’s Wedding at The Out Barn in Clitheroe

As a Manchester wedding photographer with a busy calendar of bookings, I’m well used to rushing around the city and into Cheshire to photograph weddings at some incredibly beautiful venues, but it’s also really exciting when I get to flex my skills and visit somewhere new!

Funnily enough, as soon as I was booked for my first The Out Barn in Clitheroe wedding photography package, I received a second booking for next year! It’s obviously going to be a venue to watch!

The Out Barn in Clitheroe: Wedding Photography Perfection!

Couples have so much to think about when considering a wedding venue! Location, accessibility, venue, size, and supplier packages are all key factors, and the surroundings themselves are hugely important for the wedding album.

The Out Barn in Clitheroe ticks every box for wedding photography! The ceremony venue is incredible, with a rounded stone building and huge windows that stretch from floor to ceiling and drench everything in glorious light.

Outside there are extensive gardens, fields, and rolling green spaces, with features such as a stone bridge, running water, tree-lined paths, and even fields of flowers to create absolutely stunning reportage-style shots.

As a creative Manchester wedding photographer, this venue is a dream and it offers so much potential; not just for couples creating their perfect aesthetic for the day, but for the photography work that captures all of the beauty.

The light, backdrop, space and supplier team all combined for a perfect experience and it was such a wonderful booking – and a superb wedding to shoot!

The Happy Couple!

One of the first things I love to find out about my wedding photography clients is how they met, and Claire and Adam had a great story – meeting on the job as posties during the pandemic!

Claire is actually a professional singer so when Covid had everyone in lockdown, she couldn’t work. Luckily, she used her enterprising spirit to get a temp job for Royal Mail and the rest, as they say, is history!

Morning Preparations

The morning of the wedding itself was very relaxed, with the groom and his groomsmen all getting ready at Clough Bottom Farmhouse, just down the lane from the Out Barn itself. The girls got ready at The Dairy Cottage next door to the farmhouse.

The proximity of the venue and the private spaces is just one of the appealing features of The Out Barn in Clitheroe, and every space has real rustic charm and natural beauty that lends itself perfectly to my style of reportage wedding photography.

I got started early on the day, as I always do, taking setting shots, testing angles, and getting everyone used to me working unobtrusively in the background.

I do a lot of prep beforehand, packing my trainers and plenty of spare kit for my car boot just in case, and I start snapping away really early so that everyone soon forgets I’m even there and just eases into the day!

The Out Barn Wedding Ceremony

It was gloriously sunny, and after a perfect ceremony filled with music, speeches and lots of emotion (which of course, I was there to capture!), all the guests spilled out onto the lawn for drinks while the children ran around happily in the grass.

One of my favourite features of the wedding setting was the incredible colour of the floral displays, contrasting perfectly with crisp white table settings. The vibrancy of the blooms added such a fresh feel to the bright sunshine of the day and you can see how this translated into pure summer energy in the photos!

The Maid of Honour really excelled herself with her speech and even arranged for some guests to get up and sing during the proceedings! After the meal and speeches, everyone enjoyed a meander down the tree-lined lane and I took some lovely pictures on the little stone bridge, where the happy couple could relax, take a deep breath and just enjoy themselves.

This is a really important part of any wedding photography album, and every couple needs that excuse to lose the wedding party for a bit and just be together! The resulting photos were just gorgeous too, so natural and relaxed with those huge smiles telling a story!

Evening Entertainment

The evening entertainment was a huge amount of fun with ‘Band-eoke’. Bemused? It’s basically where guests submit their song requests and can get up and sing along with the band! Claire obviously used this moment to take to the stage and blew everyone away with a stunning rendition of Florence and The Machine’s ‘You’ve Got The Love’, setting the tone for the night’s energy!

This wedding was such a joy to photograph and filled with beautiful moments, scenes, people and emotions, and I used every skill and piece of kit in my toolbox to capture them, before editing everything carefully after the wedding to bring out the colour and contrast of the day.

What to Know about Wedding Photography Editing

Great editing is just as important as taking the photos itself, and a great Manchester wedding photographer will really invest in this post-production work to create a truly stunning, cohesive album that has almost an editorial feel in its style treatment.

So for couples thinking of booking a wedding at The Out Barn in Clitheroe, or any other Manchester wedding venue, ask your photographer how they edit!

I hope you love the resulting wedding album as much as the happy couple did! It certainly tells the story of the day and will give them years of joy.
