Manchester Wedding Photography at Morley’s Hall Barn:
Nicolle and Alex
When I’m not working as a Manchester wedding photographer, I’m typically throwing around weights at the gym, so I was really excited to be asked to photograph the wedding of two Crossfitters, who had actually met at one of the Trafford Fit competitions that I photographed! It’s a small world!
This wedding at Morley’s Hall Barn was a beautiful winter event held on 22nd December, and the bride and groom had pulled out all the stops to organise it in just three months, having only been engaged since September!
The venue and event were so beautiful and perfect, you would have thought Nicolle had been working on it for so much longer! And being a winter wedding, we didn’t need to worry about the weather (yes, it rained all day) as the couple had specially booked a twilight wedding in the late afternoon so that the whole occasion would be lit with beautiful twinkling lights.
In fact, the wedding atmosphere was so carefully attuned to the dark winter conditions, that it finished with a beautiful sparkler photo at the end, where all the guests were illuminated in warm golden light. This was such a special and unusual moment, and it was just beautiful.
As a Manchester wedding photographer with a reportage or documentary shooting style, I had so much to work with on the day! For example, during the evening event, Nicolle got up and sang with the band, with her Dad on guitar! They are in a band together and always jamming, so this was such a beautiful moment to capture for the wedding album!
That’s one of the best things about being a reportage-style Cheshire wedding photographer – I’m there to capture everything that happens, subtly and unobtrusively in the background, so that the true spirit, emotion and story of the day is perfectly recorded.
Beautiful Morley’s Hall Barn
Incredibly, this was also the first time I’d shot at Morley’s Hall Barn, which is only up the road from where I live! It’s a real hidden gem of a venue and funnily enough I’ve since had a few bookings at it for next year, so word must be getting out!
The Barn at Morleys Hall is a beautiful quaint barn renovation located in Tyldsley, packed with original features and surrounded by stunning Cheshire countryside. With high ceilings, huge wooden barn doors and original brickwork, it’s a photographer’s dream, and it’s also very comfortable thanks to state-of-the-art heating and ventilation.
What a backdrop to this wedding! The event was an absolute winter wonderland with sparkling fairy lights and tiny candles, evergreen garlands and stunning floral displays featuring natural grasse
s and seasonal blooms. Huge bouquets of snowy white roses perfected the winter theme, and the ceremony was performed in front of a huge white floral arch. There were even sparkling Christmas trees in the background to create an absolutely magical feeling.
You can see the finished results in the photography, with the bride’s stunning dress and flowing white train adding a wonderful sense of drama and elegance to each shot.
My documentary photography style also captured every emotion and special moment at the wedding, and you can see in the photos how the mood changed from nervous and excited, to emotional and loving, through to absolutely joyful and wild during the evening entertainments! This group were incredibly fun to shoot with so many expressions, movements, dance moves and spontaneous moments playing out for the camera!
You can see in the album that I gathered the bride, groom and their special people to capture some formal shots, as requested for their album. And then most of my day was spent taking thousands of reportage photos subtly in the background so that no moment was missed!
This is my speciality and it’s an advanced skill that requires a lot of experience. This is why a lot of Manchester wedding photographers don’t offer it! I think you’ll agree that the results are worth it too, especially once I’d applied my full editing suite to bring out the incredible colour of the wedding in a way that captured everything we saw in person!
